Super Jackpot Slots
Project
Super Jackpot Slots is a free-to-play game released for Facebook and iOS and Android mobile devices. The app gives players the opportunity to experience slots games that are found on real casino floors. The art direction is inspired by the vibrance of casinos along the Las Vegas Strip.

Original Piggy Bank character design credit: Corben Marroquin
The foundation of this design was built from the intent to engage players by encouraging the accumulation of coins with more slot game spins and provide a fun and rewarding player interaction upon purchasing access to the bank. After researching different bank features across the mobile games market, I designed this layout featuring an original character design by fellow artist Corben Marroquin. I broke out the character into pieces and created spine animations, built particles, designed a mallet icon, and implemented the feature in our Starling Builder game engine.
All animations were created through Spine animation.
Particles were created through a Starling Builder Particle Editor.

Themed Loading Screen

The goal of this loading screen's design was to provide a template for artists to quickly create themed loading screens for upcoming slot game releases and featured slots. This project also inspired the early phases of my designs for an updated splash screen for Everi Digital's apps.

My role at Everi Digital has involved to optimize, rebuild, and port land-based games onto our mobile and social platforms. Upon reviewing games from Everi's slot cabinet art archives, I have been able to reduce games from several atlases to between 2-4 atlas (no greater than 2048x2048). For example, the project Cash Money uses one 2k Atlas, while Rumpelstiltskin uses four 2k atlases, and all of the other games use two 2k atlases.
Key elements from the original slot cabinet games are broken down into smaller pieces, optimized for 9-slicing, or prepared to be tiled. Reels, game features, and symbols are all reformatted to fit the dimensions of our apps. Everything is built with the intention to be ported to future responsive game layouts.
All animations were created through Spine animation.
Particles were created through Starling Builder.

After building mockups, exporting art assets, and organizing a game's workspace, the games are ready were ready to be built in our game engine. Original slot cabinet art archives usually involve either After Effects or Flash animations. Both formats had to be either exported via the use of scripts (rare case) or completely rebuilt in Esoteric. All animations are polished in Spine. Particles are used at a minimum, in order to ensure games are performant.
The following videos feature a few of my projects as well as promotional videos of the original slot cabinet games for reference.
